New Florida Legislation Brings Some Financial Relief to Condo Owners, Including Canadian Snowbirds

Financial Relief for Snowbirds Who Own Condos in Florida

Some Canadian snowbirds who own condos in Florida can breathe a sigh of relief.

On June 23, 2025, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed two pieces of legislation that provide some financial relief to condo owners in Florida, including many Canadian snowbirds who own condos in the state.

The two pieces of legislation are HB 913 (Condominium and Cooperative Associations) and HB 393 (My Safe Florida Condominium Pilot Program).

In a press release, DeSantis said the legislation was introduced to address the concerns of condo owners related to stringent rules mandating condo safety measures that were put in place after safety issues arose with several condo buildings in South Florida.

The new legislation includes a number of provisions that are intended to provide some relief for condo owners who were set to face skyrocketing special assessment fees for condo repairs.
