Why Canadian snowbirds choose California as their winter home
For decades many Canadian snowbirds, in particular from Western Canada, have been heading to Southern California over the winter.
The majority head to the Coachella Valley communities and some head to San Diego. California has much to offer snowbirds including all the amenities of Los Angeles and San Diego, as well as attractions such as Disneyland and Universal Studios.
The area is easily accessible by air with seasonal flights to Palm Springs from airports in Canada and year round service to Los Angeles and San Diego from several Canadian gateways.
Snowbirds also drive south from Western Canada through the beautiful mountain ranges and desert scenery.
Southern California offers a mostly upscale experience for Canadian snowbirds with fine dining, great wines, health and wellness activities and lots of cultural events during the winter months. And of course, plenty of golf courses!
