Puerto Vallarta – The ideal winter home for Canadian snowbirds!
One of the most popular beachfront destinations in Mexico for Canadian snowbirds is Puerto Vallarta.
This popular resort town was once a small fishing village that attained notoriety when Sir Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor made The Night of the Iguana there.
Today, Puerto Vallarta is a thriving resort town with a busy downtown that offers visitors many boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bars. Everyone enjoys a stroll on the Malecon along the waterfront.
Puerto Vallarta has grown in all directions with beautiful resorts and hotels all along the Pacific shoreline to the north and south. Snowbirds, however, prefer to rent condos and apartments which are plentiful and available in all budget ranges. Some Canadians also own their own condos here.
There are several golf courses in the area and of course watersports, beach walking, swimming and deep-sea fishing. The town has a large marina for those interested in taking a charter or sailing.
The Puerto Vallarta International Airport is served by many airlines direct from various Canadian gateways year-round.
