Why Canadian snowbirds choose Arizona as their winter home
Arizona is a popular snowbird destination for thousands of Canadians every year, especially from Western Canada.
While many Canadian snowbirds in Arizona choose to rent their winter accommodations, a large number of Canadians also own homes all over Arizona, and the state is a preferred winter home for Canadians with RVs.
The mild, dry and always sunny winter climate, combined with dramatically beautiful desert scenery and endless blue skies help to attract Canadians year after year.
Getting to Arizona from Canada is relatively easy with flights and connections to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and seasonal flights from Edmonton and Calgary to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway. Many Canadians also choose to drive their vehicles down each winter.
The Phoenix valley area is where most snowbirds make their winter homes, choosing golf communities, condo developments, mobile home communities and RV parks.
Not surprisingly, golf is a major draw, as there are hundreds of golf courses in Arizona. Other winter pastimes include tennis, bird watching, hiking, festivals, events, lifelong learning and lots of great dining and shopping.
