Lisbon Coast, Portugal – The ideal winter home for Canadian snowbirds!

The Lisbon Coast is a region just outside the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, which is the only European capital this close to an ocean beachfront.

Canadian snowbirds are attracted to this area because of the ability to explore Lisbon at a leisurely pace and discover its many historic and cultural offerings, all while enjoying the beach and ocean as well.

Lovely Cascais is almost a suburb of Lisbon - a seaside and beach town that attracts both Lisbonites and tourists from around the world. There are great seafood restaurants here, as well as clubs, bars and cafes along the waterfront.

There are also lovely beach towns south of Lisbon along the Atlantic coast such as Costa da Caparica and Meco, or more secluded Adraga.

Snowbirds who base themselves along this coast will want to visit the many different beaches and coves and explore the countryside. There’s a wide variety of accommodation, from home and apartment rentals to small hotels.  A car is a definite asset to explore the region.
